As concept artist, you determine the visual style of the game. You create living characters and beautiful worlds. You work closely with the development team to get a visual spark in the game, making sure that the final product looks amazing, has a clear visual communication, and is attractive for a worldwide audience.


  • Create unique, high quality visuals for our upcoming titles
  • Design memorable game characters that speak to the imagination
  • Create mood boards and sketches to determine the “look and feel” of scenes, including a high concept that matches the gameplay intention
  • Determine the lighting and coloring of game scenes
  • Create concept art for in-game assets such as environmental objects, weapons, characters, etc.
  • Work within the development team to deliver the game, doing whatever is necessary, for example by providing ongoing art direction and creating art assets for the game
  • Work with colleagues to improve the art discipline, focusing on concept development, craftmanship, and processes

Role based competencies

  • Expertise in creating top quality concept art
  • Deep understanding of visual communication in games
  • Mastery of several art styles, with a focus on colorful and accessible artwork
  • Excellent control over light and color
  • Experience with a broad set of subjects: Characters, environments, architecture, hard surface objects, vehicles, etc.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willing and able to give and receive effective feedback
  • Work well in a small, agile, multidisciplinary team (6-12 team members)
  • Understanding of the game art pipeline, from concept art to modeling and implementation in the game engine
  • Work in an organized way, both in Photoshop file structure and folder structures according to the company guidelines and processes


  • 5+ years experience with creating (game) concept art
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or similar software
  • Read, write and talk excellent English
  • Able to work 40 hours per week at our studio in The Hague
  • Plus: 3D modeling experience
  • Plus: Basic understanding of Unity
  • Plus: Experience with Graphic Design

Paladin is a game studio in The Hague, The Netherlands, founded in 2005. We are a team of 30 knights.
