Vouw Vriendjes is a casual game created by Paladin Studios as an entry for the NLGD’s Game Development Rally 2009. Vouw Vriendjes was declared the competition’s winner during the NLGD Industry Party on June 11th 2009.

The Vouw Vriendjes concept was born from the competition’s challenging assignment: create a fun and involving game where the goal is to take care of something. The target group: kids aging between 8-12 with chronical diseases or handicap.

The winning game would be uploaded to Neuzenroode.nl, a part of the CliniClowns world designed for kids in the above mentioned circumstances.

So how could Paladin Studios bring some joy to the lives of these youngsters? Vouw Vriendjes is the answer.

Vouw Vriendjes or “Folding Friends” is a game where one customizes, takes care and plays with their Vouw Vriendje. 2 mini games and different assignments allow players to earn points, which will then lead to further customization options. In addition, a player can print and put together its Vouw Vriendje as a paper toy, adding a physical element to the game experience.

The competition win is a great achievement for the Paladin team, but we are also very proud to have created a game that will help putting a smile on kids’ faces.
