Offshore Simulator Centre AS is the owner and developer of the world’s premier offshore / anchor handling simulator. In their virtual environments, towing vessel crews are trained before they head out to sea. The simulation offers a safe and cost effective solution to a serious challenge.

Paladin Studios was invited to assist on the development of parts of the simulator, including restructuring the main program and networking framework. Other areas included character scenario systems and character animations. Besides work on the simulator, Paladin also helped create several spin-off projects.

Safer Deck Operations

Rolls Royce Marine developed a new remotely controlled crane for vessels. In order to provide a flexible training facility, Offshore Simulator Centre was asked to develop a stand-alone training simulator. Paladin Studios has developed the game framework and designed the tower building game.

Trainees may use a prototype of the new hardware to control a virtual crane on the screen. Missions include chain handling procedures and correctly picking up several kinds of equipment. In addition, a tower building game was created to provide skill-based competitions.

The training program was well received by Rolls Royce Marine, and even used to optimise the designs for the remote controls.
